NO MORE SELF-DOUBT!!!

I look at self-doubt as holding your confidence and greatness prisoners within. Recently I have been reading about Imposter Syndrome. It has been defined as a collection of feelings of inadequacy that persist despite evident success. Suffering from chronic self-doubt and a sense of intellectual fraudulence that override any feelings of success or external proof of their competence. It is also referred to as an internal experience of believing that you are not as competent as others perceive you to be. No matter how it is defined or referred to STOP IT! Believe in yourself, your success, and your skills.

This is something that I was struggling with not too long ago. This past year so many life changing events happened and for a minute I felt like I was out for the count. I eventually picked myself up off the mat and pushed forward but I continually doubted myself and therefore held a lot of things back. I used every excuse in the book to try and justify my slacking. When I finally pushed my pride to the side and shared what I was feeling with my close friend she said, “Almost everybody has moments like this. You are not alone.” She is someone that has been making great moves in business and I never would have thought that she dealt with this.

It was in that moment that I saw this self-doubt, imposter syndrome for what it really is... a distraction! It was a distraction to keep me from moving forward. It is a vicious cycle that if we are not careful, we will be stuck in wasting so much time. I took the leap and jumped off that merry-go-round! I made a promise to myself that for every negative thought I had I would replace it with two positive ones.

I am here to remind you, if you are struggling with self-doubt or imposter syndrome, you are not alone and you can overcome this. When you find yourself in those moments just remember, that you are more than enough, you are fearfully and wonderfully made, you are the apple of God’s eye, you are the head and not the tail, through Christ all things are possible. I could go on and on but now it’s your turn to tell yourself how great you are. Now go unlock the prison door and let your confidence and greatness be free!
